About the Villages

The Villas were first started in 1989 with a grant from the Cooma Rotary Club and a committee of Rotarians and other volunteers was then formed.

The first villas were known as Sir William Hudson Retirement Units and were built at Fachin Avenue.  They were built in stages –first 6, then 3 and another 3 for a total of 12.

In August 2005 the Brown Close site was acquired and 7 more villas were built and the name was later changed to Monaro Retirement Villas.

The committee is still entirely voluntary, but with a paid administrator.
